Whigfield

Sannie Charlotte Carlson, also known as "Whigfield", was born in Skaelskor (Denmark). Before singing Sannie worked as a very successful model and studied music. When she met the producer Larry Pignagnoli, who also produces Katla, In-Grid, Ally & Jo, Ann Lee, Spagna, J.K., Dhany and others, the artist "Whigfield" was born. The name "Whigfield" is a tribute to Sannie's piano teacher."Saturday Night", Whigfield's debut single, stayed eleven weeks on the #1 position in the Spanish charts and also became a massive hit in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal and in the U.K.. Over two million copies of this song were sold.
The follow-up singles "Another Day" and "Think Of You" entered both the top ten in Germany, the Netherlands and in many other European countries. Apart from these two songs, Whigfield's debut album "Whigfield" includes the wonderful ballad "Close To You" as well. The album was re-released with a brilliant cover version of Wham's Christmas classic "Last Christmas". In summer 1996, the song "Sexy Eyes" - also from the debut album - was released and entered the high positions of the charts in Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and in South America. "Sexy Eyes" became a #1 hit in Australia.
In addition to the album "Whigfield", Whigfield released a great album called "Mega Mixes" which includes many brilliant mixes of her biggest hits so far. After the release of "Gimme Gimme" (taken from "Whigfield II") - also a hit-single in Australia, Europe and South Africa - Whigfield's second album "Whigfield II" was released in November 1997. The single "Givin' All My Love" came out after the hits "Baby Boy" and "No Tears To Cry" on eastern 1998. This song stayed in the charts of several European countries for a very long time.
In 1999, Whigfield was back in the charts with a cover version of a hit from the 60's called "Be My Baby" (taken from the album "Whigfield III"): This song is well known from the movie "Dirty Dancing". "Be My Baby" is a typical Whigfield song, though it was written by Phil Spector. Whigfield released her third album "Whigfield III" in late 2000. The second single "Doo-Whop" was a huge hit in Spain. The third single "Much More" came out on the 26th of January (2001) in Germany and was a smash-hit in Canada and México.
After a long break, Whigfield was back in 2002 with a brandnew album called "Whigfield IV". It is her best album so far, because it includes many different music styles: UK Garage/2-Step, R&B, House, Dance/Techno and, of course, some tracks in the typical "Whiggy-style". The album was released in Germany on the 29th of July. The first single was the song "Gotta Getcha" - out on the 24th of June 2002. The CD also includes the "Abigails Party Remix" of "Saturday Night".
September 2002: Whigfield released her second single from her fantastic album "Whigfield IV". The song is called "Amazing & Beautiful" and the single CD also includes a Radio Version of the great ballad "My My".
In May 2003, Whigfield released a 2003 version of her debut single "Saturday Night". The remixes were done by the German producer team "Villa Productions". In July 2003, the single became a hit in Denmark (Top 20) and in the Official Czech Dance Charts (Top 3) ...
