Die Rubettes haben ihren ersten großen Erfolg genau 4 Wochen nach Veröffentlichung ihrer ersten Schallplatte „SUGAR BABY LOVE“. Wie der berühmte sprichwörtliche Blitz wurden sie die Nr. 1 in England und blieben dort 5 lange Wochen. Diesen Erfolg wiederholten sie auf der ganzen Welt.

„SUGAR BABY LOVE“ wurde weltweit acht Millionen mal verkauft. Mit ihren einzigartigen hohen Harmonien und einer extravaganten Bühnenpräsentation folgten 15 weitere internationale Hits. Die Rubettes wurden eine der Haupt–Bands der 70’er Glam Rock Ära.

Durch die enorme Popularität waren sie ein ständig gefragter Show-Act für TV und Konzert–Auftritte in der ganzen Welt. Doch 1981 beschlossen sie das genug einfach genug ist und gingen in den Ruhestand.

1982 wurden sie eingeladen in Deutschland mit anderen bekannten 70-er Künstler aufzutreten. Die Rubettes feat. Bill Hurd waren doch sehr überrascht wie populär sie noch waren, und wegen der aufkommenden Nostalgiewelle entschieden sie sich, weiter zu arbeiten.

Unsere Gruppe existiert aus Originalgründungsmitglied Bill Hurd (Keyboards/Gesang), Alex Bines (Schlagzeug) der schon seit der Neugründung in 1982 dabei ist, Billy Hill (Bassgitarre/Gesang), Ian Pearce (E-Gitarre/Gesang) sowie dem unglaublichen Sänger George Bird (E-Gitarre/Lead Sänger). Die Rubettes feat. Bill Hurd begeistern noch überall ihre Fans.

Bis zum heutigen Tage sind mehr als 30 Millionen Schallplatten von den Rubettes weltweit verkauft worden. Ihre Auftritte im Fernsehen, Clubs und großen Bühnen sind nach wie vor heiß begehrt.

The Rubettes gained Worldwide success with their very first single “Sugar Baby Love”. The record shot to No 1 in the UK charts and stayed at the top for 5 weeks, selling around 10 million copies and it went on to become one of the classic pop records of all time.

With a distinctive vocal harmony sound and a unique presentation they became one of the most popular bands of the 70’s with a string of international hits including: “Juke Box Jive”, “Tonight”, “I Can Do It” “Foe Dee Oh Dee” Little Darling etc.

The bands enormous international success and a very hectic schedule of touring and T.V appearances throughout the World eventually took its toll and the original band retired from performing in 1980. The various members followed a natural progression of solo projects and alternative musical ventures, before the band re-formed a few years later.

Today there are two different “Rubettes feat. Bill Hurd” line-ups and our band has a wealth of experience and professionalism. Original founder member Bill Hurd - keyboard/vocals and Alex Bines – drummer since their re-formation in 1982, have put together an unbeatable rock-solid unit with the foundation of ace bassist Billy Hill, the brilliance of guitarist Ian Pearce and the extraordinary vocal talents of George Bird.

With an emphasis on musicianship and style, this classy and formidable combination, passionately delivers a unique blend of the old and the new in an impressive fashion. The ability to reproduce and enhance the original hit sounds live, makes this band highly sought after for concerts, festivals etc all over the World, By introducing a freshness with some great new songs alongside the old favourites, they deliver an entertaining and dynamic stage act time after time.
