“ROCK YOUR BABY”, sein bisher größter Hit, sicherte GEORGE McCRAE für zwei Jahrzehnte ständige Popularität in 82 Ländern und katapultierte George vom Newcomer zum Superstar. George erhielt den begehrten “Goldenen Löwen” von Radio Luxemburg, der in Deutschland für besondere Leistungen an aus- ländische Künstler verliehen wird. Nach seinem Top – Hit “ROCK YOUR BABY” 1974 stieg seine Popularität in ungeahnte Höhen. Unzählige Gold – und Platin – Schallplatten sind Ausdruck der Beliebtheit dieses Sängers auf der ganzen Welt. Der Mann, der an die Spitze zog mit seiner einfachen, sexy, hypnotischen Stimme, wusste, dass ein einziger Hit, so riesig wie er auch war, nicht Basis für eine Karriere sein konnte. Sein zweites Spitzenalbum festigte seine Popularität. Es bestätigte George als vielseitigen Künstler und führte zu weiteren weltweiten Tourneen in Nord-Amerika, Europa und den mittleren Osten. Ab 1984 wurde es dann ruhiger um George. “Ich möchte es nun etwas leichter haben, da ich seit 1974 ununterbrochen unterwegs bin. Ich brauche Zeit um mich zu sammeln und wieder einmal für meine Familie da zu sein”, gab der gutaussehende Sänger zu.
Als 1987 “ROCK YOUR BABY” in einer Remix - Version von Paul Hardcastle wiederveröffentlicht wurde und in vielen europäischen Ländern in die Hitlisten einzog, zog es auch George wieder ins Musikgeschäft zurück. Neue Veröffentlichungen, sowie Termine in TV und Rundfunk können wir wieder von GEORGE McCRAE erwarten.

Certainly the record of 1974 around the world, that one song sold in excess of 52 million copies making it one of the biggest selling pop records in history. The power of a super hit record to create international stardom for a new artist has never been more clearly evident than in the case of George McCrae. Born the second oldest of nine children on 19th October 1944 in West Palm Beach, Florida and the son of a retired policeman, George had his first singing experience in church at the age of six. As a teenager he sang with the Roosevelt High School Glee Club and eventually formed his own group, ‘The Jivin’ Jets’, before joining the US Navy in 1963. Back on civie street, four years later George sang in clubs and lounges around Florida and after several years of modest musical success and a couple of records, enrolled in college to study law enforcement, but music was still on his mind and he decided to record ROCK YOUR BABY as one last shot. It hit the charts like a tidal wave. Now all this is about to happen again. George has been writing and producing new music, a platinum sound, the “McCrae Sound”, the sound that the fans have been begging for – smooth – soulful – sensational.
